Former Norwich keeper Gunn explains Forest move

**Former Norwich City goalkeeper Angus Gunn hopes that his experience helps Nottingham Forest after returning to the Premier League with the Reds.**

Gunn left Carrow Road at the end of last season after City sporting director Ben Knapper declined to extend his contract. He's since been searching for a new club, and earlier this week settled on one when he signed a one-year deal in the East Midlands.

Forest currently have reigning golden glove winner Matz Sels as their first choice between the sticks, but the Scotland international believes that he can add competition to a strong goalkeeping department.

"I am really happy to be here," he said in a statement on Forest's official website. "This is a historic club on an exciting journey and I’m looking forward to being a part of it and getting to work.

"I’m joining a good group of keepers, and I believe my experience will add something to the team. I can’t wait to get going."

Chief football officer Ross Wilson also hailed his latest addition after speculation linked Gunn with West Brom and Antalyaspor, adding: “We are pleased to welcome Angus to Nottingham Forest today.

"He joins a strong goalkeeping department and adds his experience to the group. I know how much Matz has enjoyed his work with Rui Barbosa (goalkeeping coach), and I’m sure Angus will enjoy that same coaching and support as he settles into the club."

Gunn has had two senior spells at Norwich after leaving the club's academy for Manchester City aged 17. He first returned on loan from the Citizens in 2017, going back to NR1 permanently in 2021's £5million switch from Southampton.

He made 172 appearances in total for City, keeping 47 clean sheets and playing a key role in their Championship play-off qualification under David Wagner in 2024.

Forest kick off their league campaign a week on Sunday when Brentford travel north for a 2pm kick-off.
