Chelsea’s interest in RB Leipzig’s Xavi Simons has been regularly covered by the German media.
On July 23rd, claims from Germany explained the Blues are expected to intensify efforts to sign him. Later that month, Bild reported Chelsea need to sell players before making advances for Simons’ transfer.
Two days ago, journalist Orazio Accomando stated Chelsea have reached a full agreement to sign the attacking midfielder for £60m. He also reported the player will sign a contract until 2032, once the bureaucratic issues are sorted.
A fresh report from Bild now claims the 22-year-old is ‘desperate to leave’ and has largely agreed terms with Chelsea.
It’s claimed the Bundesliga side are ready to sanction a move this summer and have set a €70m price. They have also identified Liverpool’s Harvey Elliott as the main target to replace the Netherlands international.
The problem, however, is that the German club haven’t received an offer from the Club World Cup winners. Leipzig and the player want to part ways with each other, but unless Enzo Maresca’s side were to make an offer, there won’t be any development.
It looks like both Simons and Leipzig seem to be frustrated with lack of further advances from Chelsea.
