Report: Leeds United told a primary transfer target is now not for sale

Leeds United remain active in their pursuit of Fulham striker Rodrigo Muniz, despite other interest in the centre-forward.

It has been two months since Leeds United’s Rodrigo Muniz interest first emerged in the media, with regular first-team opportunities on offer to the 24-year-old after a more rotational role in 2024/25.

Leeds saw a £32 million bid rejected for Muniz at the beginning of the window and Leeds’ second Muniz bid remains on the table unanswered even now.

That’s despite the fact that there have been signs of positive progress over a deal for Muniz being made in the last few weeks. However, competition is still an issue, given how impressive he was last term.

Atalanta learn latest Fulham stance on Leeds target Rodrigo Muniz

Serie A outfit Atalanta BC are also keen on Muniz. In fact, Atalanta were said to be pushing harder to sign Muniz, with representatives meeting with Fulham. However, there have been further developments of late.

That is because those talks with the Cottagers have not seemingly gone well, with other reports stating Atalanta have been put off by Fulham’s asking price of Muniz.

That hasn’t stopped Fulham fans from being concerned about Muniz’s future at the club. However, their fears may have been eased further by the latest regarding Atalanta’s interest and the club’s stance.

Italian transfer journalist Gianluca Di Marzio states that the Serie A side is pushing for Muniz, but Fulham is not open to a move for the striker and selling him this summer is not in their plans.

That’s despite the fact Atalanta sees him as a key target and CEO Antonio Percassi has been negotiating in England with no agreement yet. They’ve also eyed Jean-Philippe Mateta and Nikola Krstovic.

Raphinha showcases why patience is required over Rodrigo Muniz

Despite Fulham’s stance, it’s consistently been maintained that a deal is still possible with the Premier League side but that it will take a club-record fee from Leeds to sign Muniz.

There is still a chance that Muniz, like Raphinha, could be a late window deal. That requires patience, much like they had to show with the likes of Raphinha in the past.

It has consistently been maintained that Leeds believe they will strike a deal for Muniz with Fulham at some stage over the coming weeks and months.

The problem has been the patience of the fanbase with regards to attacking additions, with Leeds seriously lacking difference-makers in the final third at present.
