Player ‘on the verge’ of leaving Chelsea after enquiry yesterday evening - journalist

The writing may be on the wall for Nicolas Jackson’s Chelsea career, so it will be intriguing to see if he secures a transfer move before the summer window closes.

Nicolas Jackson, 24, has been the clear first-choice striker at Chelsea for the previous two seasons. However, it’s all changed this summer following the arrivals of both Joao Pedro and Liam Delap at the club.

Fabrizio Romano expects Jackson to leave Chelsea in the next few weeks. We’ve seen the centre-forward do some excellent things for the Blues, scoring 30 goals in 81 appearances, but he’s struggled to truly win over supporters because of his inconsistency.

It’s been reported that Chelsea are prepared to sell Jackson if clubs meet their £80m valuation.

Nicolas Jackson value after Bayern Munich enquiry

Journalist Florian Plettenberg claimed via X yesterday evening that German champions Bayern Munich have now made an enquiry for Chelsea’s Jackson, but they face competition from Newcastle for his signature.

Apparently, the Senegal international is “on the verge” of leaving the Blues. His valuation is believed to be around €65m (£56m), which would represent great value in the current transfer market.

If Jackson’s new price tag is correct, Chelsea are in danger of selling him cheaply. It is worth highlighting that the central striker is still on a long-term contract that runs until 2033.

In terms of Bayern’s interest in Jackson, we would urge the player to steer clear of Vincent Kompany’s side because there’s no way he would get into their XI ahead of Harry Kane.

In contrast, we could imagine him doing a superb job leading the line at St James’ Park. Newcastle held preliminary talks for Jackson, so will they now ramp up interest as the Alexander Isak saga drags on this summer?

Nicolas Jackson is proven in the Premier League

Earlier this summer, Newcastle fans insisted they don’t want Jackson when the transfer rumours started to emerge.

Of course, the centre-forward would be a step down from Isak. The reality is that nearly every striker in the division would be. We would expect to see the Chelsea frontman surprise a lot of people at St James’ Park if he ended up joining Newcastle this month.

In 65 Premier League matches, Jackson has scored 24 goals and supplied 10 assists. Incidentally, all of those goals were from open play because he’s not on penalty kicks.
