A fresh update suggests one Wolves transfer target may still be up for grabs despite strong links to title winners.
Wolves have had mixed success in their pursuit of defensive additions, with a number of targets coming painfully close to a move.
Vitor Pereira has been clear on needing reinforcements at the back, after two starting full-backs from last season have left the club. Rayan Ait-Nouri has left for Manchester City, while Nelson Semedo opted not to renew with Wolves and seek a new challenge in Turkey.

David Moller Wolfe was brought in to fill the vacancy at left-back, but the opposite flank is still in need of an upgrade. And now, there’s an update on Wolves’ preferred target.
Fabrizio Romano says Sevilla reject £14.7m bid from Napoli for Juanlu Sanchez
Juanlu Sanchez has been a player of interest to Wolves for some time now, with an agreement even being reached for Sanchez just last week.
The Spanish right-back seemingly had a change of heart, revealing his preference for a move to Italy instead.
But as of yet, no club-to-club agreement has been found with Napoli, after they failed to match Wolves’ initial £17 million offer.

Sanchez seemingly doesn’t want a Wolves move, but Sevilla are clear on wanting to sell him, and if Napoli can’t rise to match that figure, the decision lies with the club at the end of the day.
Juanlu Sanchez fits Vitor Pereira’s ideal profile
Pre-season has exposed a lack of creativity and intensity on the attacking side of play. According to him, Wolves need pacey, attacking players who can beat their man and progress play.
Sanchez fits the bill as a versatile wide player, comfortable in both halves and able to step into midfield when required.

The player’s hesitation about Wolves is worrying, though considering the lack of options at Pereira’s disposal, this wouldn’t stop the club from pursuing a deal.
The ball is firmly in Napoli’s court now. They will have a chance to come back with an improved offer, but should they elect not to go any higher, it could open the door to Wolves to get a deal done after a long, arduous saga.
