Dortmund announced ahead of the friendly that Germany international legend Hummels will make a guest appearance in order to bid farewell to the fans he delighted with his defensive appearances over 13 years in two spells for the club.
Club managing director Carsten Cramer said: "You could really see how happy he is with the plan. He'll play from the start because he wants to run out with the team."
36-year-old Hummels made 508 appearances for Dortmund in all competitions, winning the 2011 and 2012 Bundesliga titles plus the 2012 and 2021 DFB Cups for the Black and Yellows. He played a key part in Germany's 2014 World Cup win and spent the 2024/25 season at Roma before announcing his retirement.

Given their exploits at the FIFA World Cup in the USA this summer, this is the last of just three pre-season fixtures for Dortmund ahead of their DFB Cup first-round encounter with Rot-Weiß Essen on 18 August.
They have enjoyed a solid return to action so far, defeating Sportfreunde Siegen 8-1 prior to a narrow 3-2 victory over French outfit Lille. New arrival Jobe Bellingham featured in both encounters, while Serhou Guirassy and Karim Adeyemi were both on the scoresheet in the latter.
Niko Kovač will be without Nico Schlotterbeck and Julien Duranville for this one, as well as captain Emre Can. However, the likes of Maximilian Beier, Julian Brandt and Pascal Groß are all expected to feature.

Juventus were also in Club World Cup action, falling to eventual Dortmund conquerors Real Madrid in the round of 16. As such, they too have had a shortened pre-season, with a 2-2 draw against fellow Italian side Reggina their only on-field action so far.
New head coach Igor Tudor will be without Juan Cabal and Nicolò Savona for the trip to Dortmund, but ex-Bayer Leverkusen forward Arkadiusz Milik should be available after recovering from an injury sustained in a gym accident.
Other familiar faces amongst the travelling contingent include former Schalke midfielder Weston McKennie, ex-VfB Stuttgart, Hamburg and Eintracht Frankfurt ace Filip Kostić and Stuttgart alumni Nico González. New signing Jonathan David and midfielder Teun Koopmeiners are also amongst the danger men.
