Leeds United hold 'discussions' about £20m deal amid Daniel Farke transfer plea

Leeds United have held internal discussions about a potential summer move for Liverpool forward Ben Doak, it has been claimed. Daniel Farke is desperate to add more strength and depth to his forward line ahead of their return to the Premier League.

Manor Solomon starred for Leeds in the Championship, scoring 10 goals and adding 12 assists in 39 appearances, but he has since returned to Tottenham, while Daniel James and Jack Harrison both missed last Saturday's draw against Villarreal due to injury.

Wilfried Gnonto and Largie Ramazani were Leeds' only two first-team wide attackers in the squad, with Brenden Aaronson having to be used on the right-hand side. It's an area of concern for Farke, who issued a transfer plea in his post-match press conference.

Speaking after Leeds were held against Villarreal, Farke said: "You could tell in the offensive area we need a bit more quality, we know this.

"If you compare our offence now to the Championship offence last season, we have lost our standout player in the second half of the season in Manor Solomon and we know we need additions in this position."

After missing out on a deal for Feyenoord's Igor Paixao, Leeds have since turned their attention to Liverpool starlet Doak. The 19-year-old spent last season on loan at Championship side Middlesbrough, where he scored three times and provided seven assists in 24 appearances.

According to The Athletic, Leeds have discussed and expressed an interest about a deal for Doak. Liverpool rejected offers of around £20million in January and value him at the same amount now.

Sky Sports add that West Ham, Monaco and Bologna are monitoring his situation ahead of a potential move. The Scotland international is believed to be seeking regular first-team football this season.

Doak, who has less than 12 months left on his Liverpool contract, has been involved as part of Arne Slot's squad during pre-season and started the Reds' first friendly against Athletic Club on Monday.

Leeds, meanwhile, face AC Milan in their final pre-season fixture in Dublin on Saturday. The Whites kickstart their Premier League campaign against Everton at Elland Road on Monday, August 18.
