Ruben Amorim’s demeanour on pre-season tour has been analysed and it marks a significant improvement from one former Manchester United manager, despite enduring a difficult 2024/25 season at Old Trafford.
It has been a positive pre-season for Manchester United so far, with the team unbeaten in four games and preparing to take on Fiorentina on Saturday. That will be the final pre-season fixture before Ruben Amorim’s side take on Arsenal in the Premier League opener at Old Trafford.
Amorim is hoping for an improved season after Ineos added three new players to the squad, with Benjamin Sesko to follow. The trio include Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Diego Leon as United focused on bolstering their attack.
United fans will hope a positive pre-season leads to much of the same when the competitive campaign begins next week.
Amorim’s mood has been positive and it’s picked up praise from journalists who sat down with him for a briefing in the United States last week.

Ruben Amorim ‘focused’ ahead of new season
Questions were asked of Amorim during his first six months at Old Trafford.
United reached the Europa League final before losing to Tottenham, and the team finished 15th in the Premier League.
Amorim’s job now is to lift the players and make them believe they are capable of better results on the pitch.

Respected journalist and United We Stand editor Andy Mitten has described Amorim as being enthused, productive and focused ahead of the new season.
Mitten admits on the latest Talk of The Devils podcast that there is a stark contrast from when Jose Mourinho was United manager heading into the 2018/19 season, which would be his final campaign as manager before being replaced by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer before Christmas.
Mourinho’s demeanour was awful. It rubbed off on his team when the competitive games began.
Amorim’s mood on pre-season should give United fans reason to be excited for the new campaign because the head coach has his mindset in the right place.
Jose Mourinho sacked in 2018
In hindsight, Mourinho’s sacking felt like a long time coming because of the demeanour he showed ahead of the 2018/19 season.
United sacked Mourinho that December after identifying a catalogue of his failings at the club.
Mourinho took over from Louis van Gaal in May 2016 and led United to League Cup and Europa League success, but they were 19 points behind league leaders Liverpool when he got sacked.
United spent almost £400m on 11 players during Mourinho’s reign, but the results did not add up, and he looked a frustrated figure on the touchline.
