Hunter Wohler came to the Indianapolis Colts straight out of Wisconsin Badgers facing massive changes on his game as the NFL team’s defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo teased that he is not going to be used as a linebacker.

Wohler was an LB almost his entire life but in the pro league, he is transitioning into a safety. With three months gone by, how is it going so far? He got many people intrigued after the team’s pre-season loss to Baltimore Ravens.
Colts Wire singled out the Muskego-native in their last practice for his brilliance under the new role.
“In the Indianapolis Colts’ joint practice against the Baltimore Ravens, rookie Hunter Wohler showcased both his versatility and playmaking abilities,” writer Paul Bretl wrote about the Colts’ Day 3 pick in the 2025 draft.

Head coach Shane Steichen is also impressed, calling him a smart player.

“He’s been standing out all camp making plays,” Shane Steichen said when asked about the Badgers alum.
“Just a smart, cerebral player that works at it. The effort is there all the time, and when you give great effort, the ball is going to find you.”
Colts are hyped for Hunter Wohler
Colts got Wohler locked for four years and they are getting their money’s worth as early as now. Even his teammates were raving after practice as seen on the video below:
