As FC Barcelona get set to take on Como in the Joan Gamper Trophy match this weekend, they have been dealt a significant injury blow.
Star striker Robert Lewandowski has been ruled out of Sunday’s match due to muscle problems, the Catalans have confirmed.
“Robert Lewandowski has muscle discomfort in the biceps femoris of the left thigh. He is ruled out for Sunday, and his recovery will determine his availability,” the club statement read.

The statement from Barcelona does not specify any particular timeline for the veteran striker’s recovery and as such, it remains to be seen if he will be ready in time for next week’s La Liga opener against Mallorca.
As far as Sunday’s Gamper Trophy match against Como is concerned, Hansi Flick will now be sweating over his options in the No. 9 role.
After all, Ferran Torres has also not been training in the past few days, having missed Barcelona’s last pre-season friendly in South Korea due to discomfort. His availability for Sunday remains in doubt.
If Ferran is also not risked, Flick will likely to turn to new signing Marcus Rashford as an option in the centre-forward position.
