'What a player!': Paul Scholes stunned after hearing who Everton want to sign

David Moyes is now making his final preparations at Everton ahead of their curtain raiser against Leeds United.

The weekend will see Everton play in front of a full capacity crowd at the Hill Dickinson Stadium for the very first time.

Fans will be keen to see how Moyes fields his team in their final run-out before the Premier League opener against the newly-promoted outfit.

Everton will have Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall available to potentially make his debut for the Blues after signing from Chelsea this week.

However, Moyes is pushing for more Everton signings on the back of adding the midfielder to his squad.

And there is one player on Everton’s radar who Paul Scholes believes would be a fantastic addition on Merseyside.

Paul Scholes excited by Everton’s interest in Tyler Dibling

Everton are interested in signing Tyler Dibling from Southampton, but some big issues have already been struck in their negotiations.

After three bids were rejected, Southampton’s CEO warned Everton not to lowball them in their pursuit of Dibling.

Speaking on The Overlap, Scholes spoke about his admiration for Dibling, who he feels would add a lot to this Everton side.

“The two he’s trying to bring in, we saw this morning [filmed earlier this week], Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Tyler Dibling,” said Scholes.

“Do you remember Dibling against us [Manchester United] at the start of the season? Oof, what a player! He was in a struggling team but he looks a real talent.”

It is clear the player wants the move to happen, with Dibling informing Southampton of his desire to leave this summer.

However, it is not going to be an easy deal for Everton to pull off unless something dramatically changes on the south coast.

Everton face huge Tyler Dibling crossroads

On the back of the recent talks between the two clubs, Everton need Southampton to lower Dibling’s price tag.

This is being completely contrasted by the Saints CEO who has told Everton they will not be signing Dibling on a cheap deal.

Everton’s next move is going to be interesting given Moyes is pushing hard for new signings to come through the door ahead of the new season.

If the Saints are not in a position where they need to sell Dibling, then Everton may have to move on with their interest in Dibling.

Alternatively, the Saints could be forced to compromise if either Dibling pushes harder for an exit, or if they do grow concerned, Everton will end their interest.

Clearly, Southampton are open to a sale, but they are determined for it to be on their terms.
