Chelsea’s summer clear-out has thrown up plenty of talking points this time. One of the most talked about is Nicolas Jackson’s future.
The Senegal forward joined the Blues with high hopes. He is now being lined up for a move away from Stamford Bridge. Arsenal were among the clubs approached. But, the Gunners decided against pursuing a deal. They have already got their man in Sporting Lisbon’s Viktor Gyokeres. That decision has opened the door for other PL rivals to swoop in. Now, Aston Villa and Newcastle United look like the front-runners.
Chelsea had initially slapped an £80m tag on Jackson. But, sources suggest they are willing to settle for closer to £60m. Villa’s interest is sincere, though they may have to sell players before moving to step it up a notch. Meanwhile, Newcastle have already had talks with Jackson’s camp. They are weighing up their options at striker. This comes particularly due to Alexander Isak’s uncertain future.
Meanwhile, Juventus are monitoring the situation from Italy as well. They are keeping a close watch as they consider their own attacking reshuffle.

Jackson eyeing exit
It has been a busy summer at Chelsea with a flood of new arrivals. More signings are expected, with Xavi Simons heavily linked at the moment. That means the club needs to free up space and funds. Jackson gave early flashes of promise. But, he appears to be one of the more marketable players.
Manchester United had previously considered him earlier in the window. They even considered a swap deal with Alejandro Garnacho as well. For both Villa and Newcastle, Jackson offers pace and power that can enhance the attacking side.
The Magpies or Villa are trying to strengthen their position for Europe. So, the next stop for the striker is likely to be one of the most interesting stories of the window.
