Saudi Arabian side Al Nassr failed in their attempt to sign Bruno Fernandes this summer.
Earlier in the transfer window, Fernandes' future at Manchester United was uncertain and his agent met with Al-Hilal officials in Saudi Arabia to discuss a lucrative move to the Kingdom.
Saudi reports claimed Fernandes had been offered a multi-million pound financial package to move to Al-Hilal. However, there was no formal contact between the clubs and Fernandes rejected their proposal.
It has now emerged that Al Nassr were also interested in signing Fernandes this summer.
Al Nassr's manager, Jorge Jesus, has admitted he wanted to bring Fernandes to Saudi, but he was informed the midfielder had already committed to remaining in Manchester.
“I wanted to," Jesus told Sport Informa when asked about signing Fernandes. "But Bruno decided on staying. We had already spoken last year. This year I knew he had made the decision to continue with Amorim."
In June, Fernandes touched on his desire to play at the highest level when he explained his decision to reject Al-Hilal. And former Benfica boss Jesus reacted: “He is in a league that they say is the best in the world, but I do not agree. For me, it is the Spanish league [La Liga]."
When Fernandes discussed his decision, he said: "It was a very exciting offer. The president of Al Hilal was very nice to me. They talked to my agent, but I spoke to my wife and family, and she asked me what I wanted to do with my future. Never did she say yes or no, or offer to make the decision for me.
"She's always been behind me with every decision. It would have been easy to change, even from a family point of view, as Ruben Neves and João Cancelo are there [with Al-Hilal].
"Our kids are used to each other, I'm used to them, but I want to play at the highest possible level, playing in the major competitions and I know I still can. And I'm happy about my decision."
The Portugal international won the Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year award for a fourth time last term, joining David de Gea and Cristiano Ronaldo as the only other players who have won it four times.
Fernandes' contract runs until the summer of 2027, with the option of another year.
