Leeds United, West Ham United, Monaco and Bologna all 'monitoring' £20m ex-Celtic winger

A number of ex-Celtic players are and could be on the move this summer.

Odsonne Edouard is set to sign for Girona from Crystal Palace and will move for a fee of £5.2m after some speculation he could return to Celtic.

Giorgos Giakoumakis has agreed a switch to Greg Taylor’s PAOK from Cruz Azul, while Brighton star Matt O’Riley is said to be interesting Serie A giants Juventus.

There’s also huge interest in former Celtic kid Ben Doak.

Ben Doak wanted by Leeds United and three other clubs

Doak moved to Liverpool permanently from Celtic in March 2022 when he was just 16, and now he could be making a £20m transfer this summer.

The Scotland international is wanted by a number of clubs after a fantastic pre-season with Liverpool, impressing particularly against Athletic Club at Anfield.

Sky Sports reporter Anthony Joseph is reporting that Premier League clubs Leeds United and West Ham United have ‘expressed interest’ in signing Doak.

The 19-year-old is also being monitored by Ligue 1 side Monaco and Italian outfit Bologna, the latter having Doak’s international teammate Lewis Ferguson in their ranks.

Doak is said to be seeking regular first-team football this season, and given Mo Salah plays in his position at Liverpool, that might be hard to come by.

Celtic won’t receive Doak transfer windfall

Liverpool signed the teenager from the Bhoys for a small development fee, which looks increasingly bad on Celtic’s part the better and better Doak gets as a player.

Celtic fans wonder if the club is due a sell-on fee if Doak is sold by Liverpool this summer, but that is not the case unfortunately.

Doak – who has six senior Scotland caps so far – played on loan at Middlesbrough last season, scoring three goals and assisting seven in 24 games for the EFL Championship outfit.

He suffered an injury in January, however, that kept him sidelined for the rest of the season.
