Report: Wolves ‘could now swoop in’ for Leeds United striker target

Wolves’ quest to replace outgoing attackers has an update, as a versatile forward is linked with a move to Molineux.

The transfer window has yielded mixed results for Vitor Pereira and Wolves.

The club have had many outgoings this summer, but have struggled in the buying market.

Recent links to Bayer Leverkusen’s Amine Adli and Liverpool teenager Ben Doak have fizzled out quickly, while a recent report on David Datro Fofana suggested interest, but nothing concrete.

The Old Gold continue to be linked with young attackers across Europe, and the latest name on lips around Molineux is a player who solves one of Vitor Pereira’s biggest issues heading into the new season.

Wolves add Matthis Abline to shortlist despite links to Sunderland and Leeds United

22-year-old French forward Matthis Abline is the latest target added to Wolves’ shopping list.

Abline is a versatile attacker who managed 11 goals for Nantes last season. As reported by The Telegraph’s John Percy on X, Wolves are keen to add another forward to the squad, and Abline is a player they like.

The Frenchman has been linked to two newly promoted sides, Leeds and Sunderland, but the hope of Wolves is that he will value the project more.

This is a signing that needs to be made, as Abline solves one of Vitor Pereira’s glaring issues.

Vitor Pereira needs a player who can play across the attack

Abline has played across the frontline for Nantes and could kill two birds with one stone for Pereira.

As Liam Keen points out: “The French youth international can play as a central striker or off both flanks and would fit Vitor Pereira’s system and the profile of player they want to sign.”

Wolves are still searching for Nelson Semedo’s replacement, as well as a centre-back and central midfielder.

Despite plenty of sales, the club can’t afford to buy multiple attackers so targeting a player who can cover all three positions is a wise move. Hopefully this deal doesn’t lose traction.
