Benfica Push to Land Man Utd Winger

Portuguese side Benfica are showing interest in Man Utd winger Antony this summer window.

Benfica eye Man Utd star Antony

**Manchester United**’s transfer window has been nothing short of a roller-coaster. Now, one player firmly in the spotlight is Brazil’s Antony. His future appears to be heading away from Old Trafford.

The winger lit up the second half of last season during a loan spell at Real Betis. That form has attracted plenty of admirers across Europe, but it’s Benfica who have made the latest move. The Portuguese giants have stepped in after losing Joao Felix to Saudi side Al Nassr.

As per journalist Bruno Andrade, Benfica have made a formal approach. They are exploring both a loan option and a possible part-purchase of the player’s rights. Meanwhile, United value him at around £43m.

Antony’s absence from United’s pre-season tour in the US suggests an exit is on the cards. For the Red Devils, a permanent deal would be the ideal outcome. But, Benfica’s ability to offer UCL nights could be enough to lure the player.

Exits are likely before deadline day

Antony’s story at Old Trafford has been one of high expectations and tough reality. Signed for a staggering £86m from Ajax, he never truly found his rhythm in England. The player’s first-choice destination this summer was a return to Betis.

Although, their preference for another loan did not align with Man Utd’s plans. That hold up opened the door for Benfica to steal a march. Talks are advancing at the moment. It looks likely that a deal will be completed ahead of the deadline on September 1.

For United, this is potentially the last piece in their reshaping of their attack for the new season. For Antony, it will give him a chance to revive his career in a new league and competition.
