'Perfect'- Man Utd hierarchy'always mentioned'one'highly rated'target during'internal meetings'with Ruben Amorim

Ruben Amorim found that the Manchester United club hierarchy felt that one remarkable talent was the right profile fit for his tactical system at Old Trafford.

That is according to Fabrizio Romano, who has now revealed that one “name” was floated in “internal meetings” involving Ruben Amorim and Manchester United.

Ruben Amorim has been able to provide a much-needed facelift to the United first-team squad that he largely inherited from manager Erik ten Hag last November.

The 40-year-old United manager has already had three new signings arrive this summer, with Matheus Cunha, Diego Leon and Bryan Mbeumo all being linked.

However, the Red Devils are expected to continue their spending spree and United are set to sign Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig ahead of Newcastle this summer.

United have been linked with signing a midfielder and a shot-stopper, while the Red Devils are also tipped to offload first-team players who are surplus to requirements.

Fabrizio Romano shares a behind-the-scenes insight into the talks between Man Utd’s uppers and Ruben Amorim over transfers

Manchester United’s looming acquisition of Benjamin Sesko is set to make the Red Devils shift their attention to a midfielder amid the summer transfer window.

Ruben Amorim is lacking a defensive midfielder for his tactical system and United have been linked with several names, including Sporting CP’s Morten Hjulmand.

However, another midfield option that has recently been floated on United’s radar is Brighton talent Carlos Baleba and the Red Devils have shown a firm interest in him.

Fabrizio Romano has explained that Carlos Baleba is viewed as a “dream target” and the 21-year-old Cameroonian midfielder is “highly rated by everyone” at United.

Speaking in a piece for GiveMeSport, he added that United-linked Baleba is viewed as the “perfect midfielder” and his name was floated around in “internal meetings.”

Romano said that Baleba was “always mentioned” during talks with Amorim and the Brighton ace is considered the “perfect definition” of a “modern midfielder.”

Fabrizio Romano opens up on Brighton’s position over Carlos Baleba amid Man Utd’s transfer interest

Romano insisted that United’s ‘dream’ label for Carlos Baleba is exactly what it is and Brighton’s current transfer position is that the Cameroon international is not for sale.

Baleba has become a key player for the Seagulls and helped fill the void left behind by Moises Caicedo, who completed a blockbuster transfer to Chelsea in 2023.

The United-linked midfielder arrived at the Amex in 2023 from French outfit Lille as a replacement for Moises Caicedo and is under contract with Brighton until 2028.

Romano added that it would be a “huge blow” if Brighton were forced to sell the former Lille star and United have shown a strong interest in Baleba recently.

He explained that United have “approached” Baleba’s representatives earlier this week and the Premier League club discussed the “situation around the player.”
