Man United fans make Mason Mount point as Chelsea agree personal terms with Alejandro Garnacho

The transfer noise is growing louder regarding Manchester United’s Alejandro Garnacho and a potential move to Chelsea.

Throughout this summer window so far, Alejandro Garnacho, 21, has been heavily linked with the Blues. It now looks like the Argentine attacker is edging closer to leaving Old Trafford for Stamford Bridge.

Garnacho was named on Chelsea’s shortlist back in June, and the transfer speculation refuses to go away.

Chelsea are impressed by Garnacho after carrying out extensive background checks on him. Apparently, Enzo Maresca’s side have now wrapped up personal terms with the Premier League winger, so all that’s left to do is negotiate a deal with Man Utd.

Journalist Fabrizio Romano reported via X on Friday morning that Chelsea and Garnacho have now agreed every detail for personal terms.

Manchester United fans insist Alejandro Garnacho should cost the same as Mason Mount

As the Garnacho rumours intensify, Man Utd fans on social media insist that he should be valued at the same price as Mason Mount.

Back in June 2023, Chelsea sold Mount to Man Utd for £55m, plus £5m in add-ons (BBC). Even though the 26-year-old attacking midfielder has struggled in his first two seasons in Manchester, partly because of injuries, he proved himself in West London as a key Blues player for several years.

Here are Man Utd supporters on X insisting Garnacho should cost a similar fee to Mount…

One fan wrote: “Garnacho has reached an agreement with Chelsea, great, now Man Utd should value him for the same amount we bought Mason Mount.”

“If Garnacho has the potential to blow up at Chelsea then we should be selling him for the same price they sold Mason Mount to us or even more,” another said.

We shouldn’t be charging any less for Garnacho than they did for Mount.

Especially since Garnacho has 3 years left in his contract with a much higher ceiling having done more for United than Mount for Chelsea.

One supporter posted: “Whoever is in charge of negotiations between for the sale of Garnacho to Chelsea shouldn’t okay the sale of the player for less than £70m. That club sold us Mason Mount for £60m. It’s either they pay £70m or do one.”

“They scammed us out of £55m for Mount. Garnacho is miles better, so don’t be taking less than £65m,” another claimed.

It’s worth pointing out that Mount was an England international and Champions League winner when Man Utd splashed the cash for him two years ago. In contrast, Garnacho is still very much a work in progress with massive potential.

How much Alejandro Garnacho could cost Chelsea

ESPN reports that Chelsea and Man Utd are now in direct talks about a potential Garnacho transfer. They add that he’s currently valued at around £50m, but the Blues believe they can negotiate that fee down quite a bit lower.

With the left-winger preferring a move to West London this summer, it could be best for all parties if they can come to an agreement, ideally before the new Premier League season kicks off next week.

Chelsea think Garnacho may only cost £40m, which feels like it could be a smart purchase for a youngster with great speed, technique and potential.
