Newcastle United and their search for a new striker continues as they scramble for an Alexander Isak replacement.
Manager Eddie Howe is holding firm in his stance on Alexander Isak, who is expected to miss this weekend’s Sela Cup matches against Espanyol and Atletico Madrid.
The 25-year-old striker has been excluded from first-team training throughout the week and was also absent from the squad’s family barbecue event on Wednesday.
Now Florian Plettenberg of Sky Germany has reported that Newcastle have opened talks with Juventus striker Randal Kolo Muani as they continue to search for Alexander Isak’s successor:
“Newcastle United have opened negotiations with Randal Kolo Muani,” reported the German journalist.
“The 26 y/o is now high on Newcastle’s shortlist after their move for Benjamin Sesko fell through.”
“While NUFC are exploring other options, Kolo Muani is a concrete target. Contract with Paris Saint-Germain valid until 2028.”
The 26-year-old featured 16 times in Serie A last season, netting eight goals and providing one assist.
He would certainly be one of the better options on the market to replace the Swedish striker.
Meanwhile, Isak himself is growing impatient.
As first revealed by DaveOCKOP.com, the Sweden international has signalled his intent to submit a formal transfer request if the deal does not accelerate.
Last Friday, the Reds made an offer in the region of £110m.
It was dismissed by the Magpies hierarchy, and while plenty of reports claimed that another bid was not forthcoming, DaveOCKOP.com exclusively revealed that Liverpool is ready to make another bid further down the line.
