Newcastle United are continuing their striker search after missing out on Benjamin Sesko to Manchester United.

Newcastle United have reportedly held talks over signing Paris Saint-Germain striker Randal Kolo Muani.

The Magpies are actively searching for a replacement for Alexander Isak, who wants to leave and join Liverpool. He is currently training alone on Tyneside but United won’t engage in any sale talks until they’ve lined up a high-profile alternative.

And that search took a major hit this week with Benjamin Sesko preferring a move to Manchester United. For Newcastle, it’s now back to the drawing board with just under four weeks of the summer transfer window remaining.

Sky Germany: Newcastle United interested in Randal Kolo Muani

Not only are Newcastle looking to replace Isak, but Callum Wilson too, after the 33-year-old joined West Ham United on a free transfers. On the striker front, the Magpies have suffered several knockbacks, with Liam Delap, Joao Pedro, Hugo Ekitike as well as Sesko opting to go elsewhere.

Chelsea’s Nicolas Jackson and Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Jorgen Strand Larsen are among the most recent names linked. Now Sky Germany have added another to the growing list.

According to reporter Florian Plettenberg, Newcastle have have opened negotiations with PSG’s Kolo Muani, who spent the second-half of last season on loan at Juventus. The Serie A giants want to re-sign the Frenchman but is a “concrete target” for Eddie Howe’s side, it’s claimed.

“BREAKING | Newcastle United have opened negotiations with Randal Kolo Muani! The 26 y/o is now high on Newcastle’s shortlist after their move for Benjamin Sesko fell through,” Plettenberg wrote.

“While #NUFC are exploring other options, Kolo Muani is a concrete target. Contract with Paris Saint-Germain valid until 2028.”

It’s been widely suggested Kolo Muani is available for £43m. PSG paid £77m to sign him from German side Eintracht Frankfurt two years ago.

Alexander Isak’s future at Newcastle United

Isak has told Newcastle he wants to leave and join Premier League champions Liverpool, who had a £110m bid rejected last Friday and vowed not to return to the table until Howe’s side find another striker in the transfer market.

Isak is currently training alone at Newcastle, having turned up at the training ground on Wednesday and Thursday later in the day after his teammates had left.

The Swede sat out the club’s pre-season tour of Asia due to a “minor thigh issue” but that did not stop him from travelling to Spain to train individually at former club Real Sociedad last week.

It was a trip that Howe admitted he found out about through the media. The head coach then later warned that the 25-year-old would have to earn the right to train with his teammates again.

Howe told Mail Sport. “You have to earn the right to train with us, We are Newcastle United. The player has a responsibility here to be part of a team and part of a squad - you have to act in the right way. So that is also at play here.

“We will make sure that any player does that to earn the right to train with the group. No player can expect to act poorly and train with the group as normal.”
