Ethan Nwaneri commits future to Arsenal in new long-term deal until 2030

Ethan Nwaneri has signed a new five-year deal with Arsenal.

Having joined the club at the age of just eight, Nwaneri graduated through the ranks of Arsenal's renowned Hale End academy, making his senior debut against Brentford in September 2022 at 15 - becoming the youngest player to appear in the Premier League.

The 18-year-old enjoyed a fruitful campaign in front of goal last season, scoring nine goals across all competitions for the Gunners, earning a nomination for the PFA Young Player of the Year award.

Nwaneri was also part of the England U21 squad that lifted the European Championship in Slovakia this summer, successfully defending their title.

“Signing this contract means everything to me," Nwaneri told Arsenal.com.

"I see this as my first real season in men’s senior football, as part of the squad in the changing room.

"I'm so excited for what I can bring to the team, I want to help us win as much as possible and bring happiness and glory to the club. This is where I feel at home.”

Despite attracting interest from a range of clubs, including the likes of Chelsea and Borussia Dortmund, the Arsenal midfielder has committed his future to the club he has called home for a decade.

“It means everything to me, I'm so happy to have got it done. This is where I feel at home, and where I’m going to develop the best. I'm ready," Nwaneri continued.

“I'm a very versatile player, so I think I'm going to play anywhere across the front five, and I’m ready to do what the manager needs.

“I've had to adapt to the demands of the Premier League, so I think I've changed physically, but also mentally as well in terms of dealing with setbacks and injuries, I think I've definitely become stronger," he added.

The extension adds to a summer of positive news for Mikel Arteta’s side, who have already secured new deals for Gabriel Magalhães and Myles Lewis-Skelly.
