Everton have been working hard to continue to strengthen their squad ahead of the new campaign.

David Moyes oversaw an impressive turnaround in the second half of the 2024/25 season that steered the club away from trouble, but their expectations are much more lofty this time around.

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall became the latest man to join the Toffees’ ranks earlier in the week, when confirmation arrived of his switch to Merseyside from Chelsea.

The boss has been vocal about the need for further additions in the latter stages of the window, and he will surely be on red alert following this recent development.

Dibling left out of Southampton squad v Wrexham amid transfer interest

Everton have emerged as a potential suitor to sign Tyler Dibling from Southampton over the last few days.

MORE TOFFEES STORIES

The Merseysiders have already seen three bids rejected by the Championship outfit, who are understood to have set a valuation of £50million on their starlet.

Moyes’ side had been believed to have turned their attention elsewhere after their latest proposal was rebuffed, but now the Scottish boss will surely feel his team are back in the game following this latest announcement.

Everton have previously gone as high as £40m with their offers for Dibling

Southampton want a £50m deal to sell the winger, inlcuding a 25% sell-on clause

Dibling has consistently been linked with some of the country’s biggest clubs

Southampton boss Will Still has now confirmed that he will not name the 19-year-old as part of his matchday squad for their clash with Wrexham on Saturday, as speculation continues to swirl surrounding his future.

Still told the media at the Saints’ press conference: “There are a few players who are where they’re at in their career and making choices.

“Tyler (Dibling) won’t be there. Sam Edozie won’t be there, and Joe Aribo won’t be in the squad either.”

Everton may be tempted into one final Dibling bid

Everton had seemingly called time on their pursuit of Dibling, but Still’s decision may well convince them to swoop back in to try and conclude a deal.

They have been chasing a marquee signing since the start of the summer, and the Southampton youngster would be somebody who is capable of being a figurehead for their project for several years to come.

The Toffees may be reluctant to up their offering to meet the asking price, but Moyes and Co. must pay serious consideration to the fact that it is a decision that could benefit them further down the line.

If Dibling continues to progress as is expected of him, then an additional £10m in order to secur ehis services mya seem like peanuts in a few years.
