In one of the recent episodes of “Nightcap,” Shannon Sharpoe gave his honest take on the issue of Jacksonville Jaguars rookie Travis Hunter, who is expected to take on a two-way role both as a wide receiver and a cornerback. While some have high expectations with his ability to play two-way, Sharpe backed Davante Adams in casting doubt about it.

“Bro, these are grown a** men… It’s a different game,” Sharpe said. “Chuck McNerney was the last guy. He was a middle linebacker and a center. That was the last time someone played both ways. There’s a reason why they stopped it. There’s a reason why when Shohei Ohtani started pitching again, his hitting suffered. He stopped pitching—his hitting went back up again.”

Davante Adams expressed skepticism about Travis Hunter’s two-way NFL role, warning that the physical demands of playing both wide receiver and cornerback at the pro level could drastically shorten his career.

On “The Pivot” podcast, Adams argued that doubling Hunter’s snap count effectively doubles his injury risk, saying, “It’s already a 100% injury guarantee. Once you get out there playing both sides… you got to tackle Derrick Henry with that frame.”

$20M Shannon Sharpe Defamation Case Dismissed

A federal court in Chicago has dismissed a $20 million defamation lawsuit brought by Chicago resident Jimalita Tillman against Shannon Sharpe, Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson, their media company, and a show producer. The case, initially filed in April and later moved to federal court, centered on claims of libel tied to comments made on the pair’s podcast.

While the court did not release detailed reasoning with the dismissal, Tillman said she was satisfied the matter was resolved without a prolonged legal fight and expressed a desire to move forward. She also noted mutual community contributions and wished Sharpe well in his endeavors.

The complaint stemmed from an April 12 episode of Sharpe and Johnson’s podcast, Nightcap, in which the hosts allegedly said Tillman was married and in the process of divorcing after a viral appearance at an Usher concert in London.

Tillman has insisted she was neither married nor in a relationship and that the show gave the impression that she triggered a breakup. She remarked that she tried to contact the program to correct the record and they did not answer her or retract their statements.

Tillman alleged the episode with Shannon Sharpe created reputational damage that affected her personal life and her role as the director of the Harold Washington Cultural Center and working as an advocate for homeschooling.
