Brentford signing the Bournemouth attacker will likely lead to Yoane Wissa joining Newcastle United.
Newcastle United are reportedly ready to finalise a deal for Yoane Wissa as Brentford make progress on signing his replacement.
Wissa has made it clear that he wants to join Newcastle this summer but has so far been denied of the opportunity, with the Bees demanding a sizeable fee whilst they search for a replacement.
It has already been a bruising summer for the West London outfit, losing key duo Bryan Mbeumo and Christian Norgaard to Manchester United and Arsenal, respectively, and manager Thomas Frank to Tottenham Hotspur.
Fom Newcastle’s point of view, it’s been a challenging one for them too having suffered several knockbacks - notably in the striker position - from Liam Delap and Joao Pedro, who both joined Chelsea, Hugo Ekitike who moved to Liverpool and Benjamin Sesko, who is on the verge of joining Manchester United.
Newcastle United want to sign Yoane Wissa
Newcastle are in the market for not just one but two strikers, with Alexander Isak hoping to join Callum Wilson out of the St James’ Park exit door. Wilson has joined West Ham United on a free transfer, while Isak wants to join Premier League champions Liverpool, who saw a £110million bid rejected last week.
Wissa has been identified as a replacement for Wilson rather than Isak, though that is no slight on the 28-year-old, who would arrive with a lot of pedigree after scoring 19 Premier League goals last season.
The DR Congo international has attracted interest from Premier League rivals Spurs and Nottingham Forest, while clubs in the Saudi Pro League have signalled their interest in doing a deal, however the player currently has his heart set on Newcastle.
Wissa left Brentford’s training camp in Portugal on July 21 and refused to train for over three weeks before holding talks with manager Keith Andrews on Wednesday. The forward has resumed first-team training but remains intent on leaving.
Sky Sports: Newcastle United ready to finalise Yoane Wissa deal
As mentioned, a key factor in sanctioning his exit is signing a replacement and according to the Daily Telegraph, the Bees have now opened talks with AFC Bournemouth for Dango Ouattara.
As such, Sky Sports News claims Newcastle are ready to finalise the Wissa transfer and hope it can be done quickly, with a fee of £35m under discussion. Wissa’s representatives are said to be travelling to England today (Friday) in hope of thrashing out a deal.
It’s added that Wissa is ready to travel to the North East as soon as he is given the green light.

Brentford boss Andrews commented: “Where it’s at is, in a nutshell, is that there's interest in Yoane. As everybody knows, he came back from the tour in Lisbon, which we felt was the right decision for Yoane. We have to respect his position and the fact that it can be stressful, emotional.
“I think that’s only natural for players. If you say anything different, you’re not living in the real world. But for us, it’s really simple. He’s a little bit behind in his fitness, he’s training very, very hard at the moment at the training ground and we look forward to welcoming him back into the group.
“Having the best players in the building would always be a bonus. I deal with the football side of things. I’m very comfortable with Yoane at the moment. (I have) phenomenal respect for him as an individual. As a person, I’m very understanding of the situation.”
