The Pittsburgh Steelers may have had the busiest offseason in the NFL. Things started off with a splash when Pittsburgh traded with the Seattle Seahawks to acquire star wide receiver DK Metcalf. Not long after that, Pittsburgh sent receiver George Pickens to the Dallas Cowboys in return for draft capital.
Then, the Steelers made the long-awaited move of signing four-time MVP winner Aaron Rodgers, making him a Steeler for what is setting up to be his last season in the NFL.
However, Pittsburgh didn’t stop there. General manager Omar Khan shipped star safety Minkah Fitzpatrick to the Miami Dolphins in return for tight end Jonnu Smith and cornerback Jalen Ramsey.
That move was followed up by making star pass rusher T.J. Watt the highest-paid non-quarterback in the history of the sport by the average annual value of his contract extension.
Now, there’s even more work for Khan to do. Star defensive Cam Heyward is practicing in a limited capacity as he works on securing a new contract, and now a less heralded, if no less important, member of the team has made it known he is seeking a deal as well.
According to Pro Football Talk, kicker Chris Boswell, who had a tremendous season in 2024, is also looking for a new deal.
Fans reacted to the news on social media.
“Heyward wants more money He’s 36 Boswell wants more money here and He’s 34 For the first time in like ever, the Steelers just went all in. Albeit with Much older Veterans, stop talking about Contracts and get Focused!” one fan wrote on Twitter.
“Finish the one you signed If you wanted player option years you should not have signed a contract without them,” someone else added.
“One of the best in football, grateful he is a Steeler! Pay the man!” another fan added.
It’ll be interesting to see if the pair get new deals before the regular season commences.
