The tensions between Marc Andre Ter Stegen and FC Barcelona have scaled to a new high as the goalkeeper has reportedly denied the club’s request to send medical staff to his home to assess his recovery, reported by SPORT.

The relationship between Barcelona and MATS has seriously tarnished over the last couple of months. Ter Stegen denies entry to club’s medical staff

The club seeks to monitor the progress of Ter Stegen by having doctors around him, but the player does not want Barca’s intervention in his private space. The GK has resorted to continuing to stay at Ciutat Esportiva, where he is strictly following the rehabilitation schedule rendered by the club.

Ter Stegen’s decision to now allow Barca doctors to assess him has come after the Catalan club recently decided to temporarily suspend his captaincy. Reports from Spain also spiraled that a planned sit-down between Ter Stegen’s representatives and the club was scheduled, but it got cancelled as the club did not see any potential solution coming out, as reported by Barca Universal.

More from Football

The conflict between Ter Stegen and Barcelona stemmed from a medical report, which the club intended to submit to La Liga, communicating to the league officials about Ter Stegen’s injury and his recovery period. The Barca medical staff estimated that the player would take more than four months to recover, a situation which would give Barcelona the power to de-register Marc temporarily and use 80% of his salary to register new players under financial fair play rules. However, the report needed Ter Stegen’s signature, which he refused to give. Ter Stegen’s rejection has left Barcelona in a desperate situation.

Barcelona fans not happy with Ter Stegen

Noting the conduct of Marc Andre Ter Stegen, many FC Barcelona fans are not happy with the player and have criticised the player on social media. On top of that, Inigo Matinez’s exit from the club has also not helped his case.

All this mess js ‘cause of Ter Stegen. We had to sell one of our most effective players for his selfishness. I genuinely wish the worst on that guy. No peace https://t.co/oULXoaItfk pic.twitter.com/smp1g4zxzd

Ter Stegen, what a way to ruin your legacy.

I get standing your ground and wanting to stay, that’s his right, but to actively go out of your way to be petty and spiteful to harm the club — bottom of the barrel stuff. A disgrace to the armband.

First the surgery, then randomly…
