Leeds United have been unbeaten in their pre-season friendlies. But in their last game against Villarreal, head coach Daniel Farke raised a lot of questions.
His side were missing around five players due to injuries, but Leeds still pulled out a 1-1 draw against a very good opponent. After the game, Farke pointed out that the attack still needs quality and urged the club to make some new additions.

Leeds United send scouts to Champions League game

Per reports, the Whites have struck out on some serious targets these past few weeks. After losing their major target Igor Paixao, the club have sought out alternatives.
But most of them seem to have already moved to other clubs. Bobby Clark chose a move to Derby County over Leeds, and Ritsu Doan, another target, joined Eintracht Frankfurt. According to MOT Leeds News, Leeds have now set their sights on another attacker.
The report claims that the club sent scouts to watch Benfica play OGC Nice in the Champions League. Their assignment on that night was to observe Norwegian winger Andreas Schjelderup. It is not clear if Leeds will follow up their interest with a bid or inquiry, but for scouts to watch the 21-year old, he is pretty high on their list.
How good is Andreas Andreas Schjelderup?
The left winger has had a mixed season in Portugal. He joined Benfica from FC Nordsjaelland but failed to impress in the early part of his stint. Schjelderup had four goals and five assists in all competition last year.
Flemmin Pederson, technical director at Nordsjaelland, was responsible for signing Schjelderup at 16. He revealed that the winger quickly shot up the ranks in record time:
“We thought he’d need 12 months to adapt before we put him in the first team,” says Pedersen of Schjelderup’s time at Nordsjaelland. “Half a year ahead of schedule, he was in the first team in January 2021.”
The 21-year old is a very good dribbler and can go past his man with ease. If Leeds do land him on a transfer, it could be a huge boost for the club.
