Real Madrid has reportedly agreed to sign one of the biggest Spanish prospects, Izan Almansa, to a four-year deal.
Real Madrid are set to sign one of Spain’s biggest prospects to a long-term deal.
According to journalist Noelia Gomez Mira, Real Madrid has agreed to sign 20-year-old prospect Izan Almansa to a four-year deal.
Reportedly, the plan for Almansa is for him to join Real Madrid immediately and not be loaned to any other team.
Almansa was a highly regarded NBA prospect entering the 2025 NBA Draft but ultimately was not selected.
He played in this year’s NBA Summer League for the Philadelphia 76ers, averaging 3.8 points and 2 rebounds in around 13 minutes per game.
Almansa was already part of Real Madrid’s youth academy before taking his talents to the USA, where he transferred to Overtime Elite Academy in 2021.
Later, he spent a year playing for the NBA G-League Ignite team during the 2023-24 season, averaging 10.5 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 1.5 assists per game on 54.3 percent shooting.
Last season, he played in Australia with the Perth Wildcats of the Australian National Basketball League.
He averaged 6.9 points and 3.9 rebounds on 51.1 percent shooting in 33 games.
He was also part of a controversy just before the 2025 NBA Draft, when he was banned for one month by Australia Basketball after testing positive for cannabis following a game with the Wildcats on December 1, 2024.
