**This afternoon, it was reported that Newcastle United had opened talks over a move for PSG striker Randal Kolo Muani.**
Newcastle have reportedly long held an interest in the France striker, so it wasn't an unexpected story when Sky Sports Germany's Florian Plettenberg announced on X that [Newcastle had initiated talks with Paris Saint-Germain](https://nufcfeed.com/newcastle-united-have-opened-negotiations-with-paris-saint-germain-striker-as-window-starts-to-heat-up-again-sky-sports-1495894) over a deal.
However, Newcastle fans didn't have long to get used to the idea as Keith Downie was very quick to shoot down his colleague's claims in a follow-up post on X.
As we've said quite often on here, we're far more inclined to believe a story when its origins are based in the country where the clubs are situated. Newcastle and Paris, for those who don't know, are not in Germany.

Keith Downie is fed up with your poop!

In a cutting post on X, an exasperated Downie countered the claims that Newcastle were in talks with PSG over Kolo Muani and also debunked the infamous plane spotters while he was on.
> 🤪 Clearly SILLY SEASON! Some strange stuff knocking about on here today…🇫🇷 ❌ Newcastle are not interested in Randal Kolo Muani — and have not made an approach to sign him.

> ✈️ 🇫🇷 ❌ THAT plane from Paris is NOT a delegation from PSG trying to sign Alexander Isak…it’s the plane taking the Sunderland team to play Augsburg tomorrow! Took off 15 mins ago…
**Can we move for Samu Agehowa now, please?**
Not only does Downie say Newcastle are not in talks for Randal Kolo Muani, he goes as far as to state that they aren't even interested in him.
Whoever leaves the striker race now is anyone's guess, as it is starting to feel like journalists are pulling names out of thin air to create stories now.
Having said that, we'd be buzzing if it does turn out to be Samu Agehowa. The more we see, the better he looks.
