Sky Sports News reports that London City Lionesses have made a formal offer for Arsenal’s Beth Mead. The England international enjoyed a hugely successful summer, winning UEFA Women’s EURO 2025 in Switzerland, making England back-to-back European champions.
Mead joined Arsenal in 2017 from Sunderland, where she scored an impressive 77 goals in 78 games and won the [WSL](https://womenfootball.blog/womens-super-league-table-standings/) Golden Boot in 2015. In the 2024/25 season, Mead made 21 WSL appearances, featured in both the Women’s FA Cup and League Cup, and played a crucial role in helping Arsenal win the Women’s Champions League. In the UWCL final against Barcelona, it was Mead who provided the assist for Stina Blackstenius, who scored the winning goal.
The club is preparing for its first season in the English top flight, and they’ve been very active in the transfer market.
This is not the first Arsenal player they’ve targeted this summer: Freya Godfrey has already joined the club on a deal running until the summer of 2028. Godfrey spent the second half of last season on loan from Arsenal, making her debut against Portsmouth and featuring in the final seven matches of the campaign.
London City Lionesses have also confirmed the signing of Nikita Parris on a two-year deal. The experienced forward joins from Brighton & Hove Albion, bringing valuable experience from previous spells at Manchester United, Arsenal, OL Lyonnes, MAanchester City, and Everton.
These signings follow the arrivals of Danielle van de Donk, Sanni Franssi, Elene Elete, Isa Kardinaal, Teyah Goldie, Poppy Pattinson, and most recently, Elena Linari.
The Italian defender, who has earned over 100 caps and currently captains the national team, brings a wealth of international experience. She recently returned from an exciting UEFA Women’s EURO 2025 campaign, where Italy reached the semi-finals before being defeated by England.
