Arsenal talks to sign 25 G/A FA Cup winner at an impasse, may resume if this happens

Arsenal are set to push their pursuit of Eberechi Eze for the latter stages of the window, but currently the chase has seemingly stalled.

According to Sebastienn Vidal, Arsenal have stalled their pursuit of Eberechi Eze as the focus is currently on offloading players. The interest in the Crystal Palace playmaker remains intact, with the midfielder keen on the switch, but the Gunners are likely to resume talks once they can formulate a decent sale from their squad.

Arsenal have acted swiftly in this transfer window, with as many as six players arriving in the window. The priority was to bring in a striker, and Viktor Gyokeres’s arrival solved that, while Martin Zubimendi, Kepa Arrizabalaga, Cristhian Mosquera, Noni Madueke and Christian Norgaard have all moved this summer.

Mikel Arteta referenced during multiple press conferences in pre-season that the squad was short, and that may be directed towards the attacking setup. The Gunners are still thought to be keen to land a left-sided attacker, possibly even two, as Eberechi Eze remains high on their list of targets.

Arsenal were set to make a bid as per recent reports, but the offer has not been made, while Eze’s release clause has already expired. The Gunners are now only prepared to make a bid once they can conduct a sale, as another recent story indicated the bid might arrive should Fabio Vieira leave, as the Crystal Palace star who contributed to 25 goals and won the FA Cup, remains a key target.

Eze remains hopeful of joining Arsenal and has been open ever since the club made initial contacts with his camp earlier in this window. For now, the move has somewhat stalled, as the Gunners are focused on selling their unwanted players, and there are quite a lot of them.

Arsenal’s move for Eberechi Eze is not dead in the water

Despite Sebastien Vidal claiming the pursuit has somewhat stalled, there is still a big possibility of reviving the chase. Arsenal are in a good position financially to be able to afford the FA Cup winner, but their concern is the space in the squad. There are some candidates to make way, as Vieira, Reiss Nelson and Leandro Trossard could leave in this window.

Arsenal will likely open talks with Crystal Palace for Eberechi Eze if those players depart, particularly Trossard, as the other two are not seen as key members of their first-team plans moving forward. Arsenal fans will hope there is a way to land Eze this summer, as his profile certainly adds something Arteta’s side are missing at the moment, particularly from the left-hand side of the attack.
