Chelsea star 'set to leave' club as PL rival weigh up £80m move

Nicolas Jackson is reportedly looking to leave Chelsea in the summer transfer window.

The Senegal international made 30 Premier League appearances last season under Enzo Maresca, but he could drop down the pecking order at the club following the arrivals of Liam Delap and Joao Pedro.

Jackson has contributed 30 goals and 12 assists from his 81 appearances in all competitions, but Maresca suggested that the 24-year-old could be sold in the summer window.

The former Villarreal striker has a contract at Stamford Bridge until 2033, and the Blues still see him as a valued member of the squad.

According to a report from the Daily Mail, Jackson is looking to leave Chelsea, and he has officially told the club hierarchy that he wants to explore options elsewhere.

The Senegal forward has been left out of the Chelsea squad for their pre-season friendly against Bayer Leverkusen, and he has trained alone at Cobham today while the rest of the team focused on their match.

The Blues are now helping the striker to secure a move away from Stamford Bridge, and Chelsea have been in talks with several clubs from the Premier League and in Europe to sanction his exit in the best interests of everyone.

However, if the deal does not materialise and Jackson ends up remaining at the club after the transfer deadline day, Maresca will happily involve him in the first-team picture.

Chelsea are also reportedly looking to offload Raheem Sterling, who is being targeted by Premier League rivals West Ham.

Newcastle could turn attention towards signing Jackson

Newcastle United could turn their attention towards signing Jackson after they missed out on Benjamin Sesko, who is edging closer to joining Manchester United.

The Magpies are exploring other options as they seek to sign a striker amid the uncertainty surrounding Alexander Isak's future.

Jackson would cost in the region of £80m, more than the £79m Liverpool paid for Hugo Ekitike, and it remains to be seen if Newcastle come up with a formal bid in the next few days.

Bayern Munich are also reportedly keen to land Jackson, but the German champions are still prioritising signing Nick Woltemade instead.
