Everton have been eager to add Tyler Dibling to their squad as they play hardball with Southampton over the young winger.

The Blues have seen several offers for the 19-year-old knocked back by the Saints, but are expected to return with a higher bid.

With interest looming, David Moyes‘ side are growing increasingly hopeful that a deal can be concluded for the winger who was once hailed as a £100million player by his employers.

Everton and Dibling now look to be on the same page when it comes to a possible transfer, and the Blues know what to do to complete the deal.

Everton must meet Southampton’s demands for Dibling

Southampton will be eager to sell Dibling, with the Saints in need of extra funds after their relegation to the Championship.

However, Will Still’s side won’t let the winger go for cheap, and Everton will have to pay a premium.

The asking price for Dibling is reportedly £50m, though Southampton are likely to stray away from that number.

Southampton want a £50m deal to sell the winger, including a 25 per cent sell-on clause

Dibling was left out of Still’s squad for the 2-2 friendly with Brighton on Saturday (2 August) and is expected to be out of the first-team squad for their Championship opener with Wrexham (9 August).

Given the teenager’s desire to leave, the Blues should continue to push for the winger and up their offer.

If they don’t, they face meeting the same fate that they have done with plenty of other signings and missing out due to their unwillingness to put their hands in their pockets.

While the reported £50m is too much for Dibling, the Blues could add a couple of sweeteners, such as a sell-on clause, and the Saints would likely be willing to meet more towards the £40m mark.

Everton need to stop sitting on the fence with transfers

Everton’s dismal summer could continue should they continue to sit on the fence when it comes to new reinforcements.

Everton’s pre-season record thus far

The Toffees have been linked with a move for Juventus’ Luiz, though they again seem to be contemplating whether to pay the £30m asking price.

In a similar situation, they appear to be sitting on the fence when it comes to meeting Manchester City’s requirements for a loan deal for Grealish.

Should they continue to dwell on these transfers, another club could quickly come and take their targets.
