If Giannis Antetokounmpo decides to leave the Milwaukee Bucks, the San Antonio Spurs will be among the teams in front of the bee line to lure the two-time NBA MVP.
Grant Hughes of Bleacher Report proposed a return package for the Bucks, complete with draft assets and a young prospect that will be hard to beat.
San Antonio Spurs Receive: Giannis Antetokounmpo
Milwaukee Bucks Receive: Harrison Barnes, Stephon Castle, Keldon Johnson, Jeremy Sochan, 2027 first-round pick (via ATL), 2029 first-round pick, 2031 first-round pick (most favorable of SAC or SAS)
A twin tower of Victor Wembanyama and Antetokounmpo, flanked by De’Aaron Fox and No. 2 pick Dylan Harper, will be a force to reckon with for years to come.
Hughes wrote that the Spurs “would become an instant contender by adding Giannis to last year’s version of Wembanyama.”

Getty Giannis Antetokounmpo and Victor Wembanyama can potentially pair up to make the Spurs an instant title favorite.
But whether that combination of generational talents can anchor the next Spurs dynasty will hinge on their supporting cast in this era, when depth and hard work trump top-heavy lineups.
“But if Wemby continues to improve as expected, well…let’s just say the Oklahoma City Thunder’s clear path to a dynasty will have a major obstacle,” Hughes wrote.
Bucks May Haggle For More
With Antetokounmpo sure to receive a strong interest from the rest of the NBA, the Bucks will hold the leverage. But the Spurs are in a great position to trade for Antetokounmpo, even if the Bucks will ask for more.
“Castle is a key piece of the deal here, and it’s possible the Bucks would hold out for Dylan Harper and/or more draft capital. We’re addressing San Antonio’s side, though, and it can afford to lose last season’s Rookie of the Year with Harper in the fold and De’Aaron Fox recently inked to a four-year extension,” Hughes wrote.
However, Antetokounmpo has built enough equity in Milwaukee after leading the city to its first NBA championship in 50 years. So, he also has leverage and can ask the Bucks to send him to a team where he feels he can win his coveted second ring.
Teaming up with Wembanyama and Fox will give the Spurs a Big Three that has the potential to rival the Tim Duncan-David Robinson-Tony Parker era.
Another Young Star on Spurs’ Radar
The Spurs stood pat and did not dip into the Kevin Durant sweepstakes for a much younger star like Antetokounmpo. But there is also another one on their radar, according to Brett Siegel of Clutchpoints.
“Other than a potential trade for Giannis in the future, the Spurs have also monitored Jaylen Brown’s status with the Boston Celtics through the years, sources said. Now that the Boston Celtics are primed to take a step back and are looking to cut costs, the 28-year-old Finals MVP is suddenly worth talking about,” Siegel wrote.
However, Brown is not available.
Following the NBA Draft, Celtics vice president of basketball operations Mike Zarren went on record to put an end to all the trade rumors involving Derrick White and Brown.
“Those two guys are really, really great NBA players, and there hasn’t been anything close to serious about trading them,” Zarren told reporters on June 27. “I’m not sure where all this reporting came from, but those guys are key parts of our team, and we’re lucky to have them here.”
