Chelsea attacker among six players'expected'to leave after left out of squad

Christopher Nkunku is reportedly among six players who are expected to leave Chelsea in the summer transfer window.

The France international played an important role for the Blues during the Club World Cup, but he is still considered surplus to requirements at the London club.

The 27-year-old has failed to cement his place since moving from RB Leipzig two seasons ago, managing only nine starts in the Premier League last season.

Overall, Nkunku has managed 61 games for Chelsea in all competitions, scoring 18 goals, and he does not appear to be a part of Enzo Maresca's plans for the next season.

The French winger is likely to drop down the pecking order following the arrivals of Joao Pedro and Jamie Gittens, and his position will come under serious threat if Xavi Simons and Alejandro Garnacho complete their moves.

As reported by Fabrizio Romano, Nkunku was among six players who were left out of Chelsea's squad for their pre-season friendly against Bayer Leverkusen.

Nicolas Jackson is also reportedly looking to leave the Blues after he officially informed the club of his desire to explore options elsewhere.

Ben Chilwell, Raheem Sterling, Axel Disasi, and Renato Veiga are the other players who were left out of the squad, and all of them are expected to depart before the end of the window.

Who could sign Nkunku?

Last month, Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio claimed that Champions League finalists Inter Milan are eyeing up a move for the Blues winger.

Bayern Munich were keen to sign him during the January window, but they could not reach an agreement. However, the German giants have not forgotten him completely, but doubts remain whether they would move for him after signing Luis Diaz.

The Athletic claimed previously that Chelsea are willing to accept bids in the region of €50m (£43.39m) for Nkunku during the summer window.

This is an apparent reduction from their previous valuations, where the West Londoners looked to recoup the £52m that they shelled out two years ago.

Chelsea have recently received a UEFA fine, and they are left with little option but to trim their squad. Nkunku is a vastly talented winger, but whether Bayern or Inter would make a concrete move remains to be seen.
