Game one of the preseason is in the books for the 2025 Philadelphia Eagles, and the title defense run is looking pretty good so far, thanks to a 34-27 win over the Cincinnati Bengals on Thursday night.
It wasn't all perfect, as the secondary had some struggles against the Bengals' top passing offense. The show was stolen from the receivers on the Eagles, including Johnny Wilson, Ainias Smith, and Darius Cooper. Of and Tanner McKee's 252 yards and three touchdowns were pretty special as well.
After one week of play, how does the latest 53-man roster prediction look? There have been some slight changes since the last time Inside the Iggles did it, with new additions and the emergence of some great players.
Philadelphia Eagles 53-man roster prediction after Week 1 of preseason
Quarterback (3): Jalen Hurts, Tanner McKee, Kyle McCord
Despite McCord's rough NFL debut, there is still a chance he can turn things around and earn a roster spot as the third string. McKee proved to be one of the best backup quarterbacks in the league so he's a lock for the roster.
Running Back (3): Saquon Barkley, Will Shipley, A.J. Dillon
Shipley and Dillon were great against the Bengals as both averaged over five yards a carry. ShunDerrick Powell could sneak in if the Eagles want to carry four running backs, but it should stay looking like this if the success continues.
Wide Receiver (6): A.J. Brown, DeVonta Smith, Jahan Dotson, Ainias Smith, Johnny Wilson, Darius Cooper
Cooper's six receptions for 82 yards and one touchdown are hard to ignore and should bring him on the roster. He might be beating out Terrace Marshall Jr. for the final spot. Wilson and Ainias also impressed, with Wilson being a potential option as a tight end as well.
Tight End (3): Dallas Goedert, Grant Calcaterra, Kylen Granson
Calcaterra had a disappointing drop on a great pass made by McKee in the Bengals game, but should still be TE2. Granson made some nice plays that he should be the front runner to be the third string at tight end.
**Offensive Line (9):**Jordan Mailata, Landon Dickerson, Cam Jurgens, Tyler Steen, Lane Johnson, Myles Hinton, Drew Kendall, Matt Pryor, Kendall Lamm
Kenyon Green's injury in the game is disappointing and part of the reason why the Eagles might need to move on from the former first-round pick. Trevor Keegan's disappointing play in training camp might also cost him a job and the Eagles to roll with eight or nine offensive linemen instead.
Defensive Line (5): Jalen Carter, Jordan Davis, Moro Ojomo, Ty Robinson, Gabe Hall
With Thomas Booker IV off in Las Vegas, Hall stepped up in his place and performed well with Ty Robinson, who had a sack on the Bengals. The Eagles should hold strong with these five defensive linemen, with Jacob Sykes potentially making it as well as he had a nice night.
Edge Rushers (5): Nolan Smith Jr., Jalyx Hunt, Azeez Ojulari, Josh Uche, Antwaun Powell-Ryland Jr.
Uche has actually outperformed Ojulari in camp so far and might be in the rotation more. Patrick Johnson had a pick-six and would have also added a sack had it not been for a penalty so might be in the conversation still off the edge.
Inside Linebackers (5): Zack Baun, Nakobe Dean, Jihaad Campbell, Jeremiah Trotter Jr., Smael Mondon Jr.
Campbell and Trotter were two of the shining stars on the Eagles on defense as they held their own. Mondon had an up-and-down night and will need more playing time, but should still be a lock for a roster spot.
Cornerback (7): Quinyon Mitchell, Cooper DeJean, Kelee Ringo, Adoree' Jackson, Mac McWilliams, Eli Ricks, Jakorian Bennett
Ringo and Jackson have big question marks, which might cause the Eagles to carry seven cornerbacks, with Bennett now in the conversation for the CB2 position. Ricks had two pass deflections and might have introduced himself into the conversation as a starter as well.
Safety (4): Reed Blankenship, Sydney Brown, Andrew Mukuba, Tristin McCollum
Nothing has changed from a safety perspective, as Blankenship will still be the starter and Brown/Mukuba will be the other starter. McCollum's experience in the defense should also help keep him in the race for the other starting safety job.

Special Teams (3): Jake Elliott, Braden Mann, Charley Hughlett
No major changes here, as everyone should have their jobs. Elliott did miss an ugly 55-yard field goal that did not count as the defense had a penalty, so he bailed out on the stat line, but he is still struggling from 50+ yards out.
