Man United left-back Luke Shaw was unhappy about being left out of six-man leadership group

Manchester United left-back Luke Shaw was extremely frustrated after he was left out of head coach Ruben Amorim’s six-man leadership group, according to the Sun.

The Portuguese boss has a new group of Red Devils stars who are now in charge of affairs in the dressing room, but United’s longest-serving current player was excluded.

Man United captain Bruno Fernandes heads the leadership team, with Harry Maguire, Noussair Mazraoui, Lisandro Martinez, Diogo Dalot and Tom Heaton the others.

19-year-old French defender Leny Yoro was also extremely close to making the sextet of leaders, and Shaw was fuming about being excluded.

It is believed the decision has his performances in training, with the England international left-back appearing to no longer push himself 100 per cent.

The 30-year-old has been with the Red Devils for 12 seasons after joining from Southampton in June 2014.

He has made 287 appearances across all competitions but frequent injuries have limited his impact in recent seasons, and it appears Amorim was not keen to include him as one of the official dressing room leaders.

Shaw was part of an eight-member leadership group under former Man United manager Erik ten Hag alongside Maguire, Fernandes, David de Gea, Marcus Rashford, Raphael Varane, Casemiro and Heaton, but he has found himself outside that pecking order.

He has two years left on his contract and will hope he leaves on a high having struggled to be available for selection for the majority of the last two seasons.

Shaw is currently behind Patrick Dorgu at left wing-back but has featured at the left of the three-man centre-back system and will be backing himself to feature regularly next season provided he manages to stay fit.
