The 73-year-old new head coach, Pete Carroll, coached his first preseason game with the Raiders and was narrowly denied the victory in his return to Seattle, where he led the Seahawks to some of their highest moments.
Raiders starting quarterback Geno Smith, who was Seattle’s starter the past three seasons, played the opening series for Las Vegas along with most of the offensive starters. Smith completed one of his three passes for 15 yards before making way for Aiden O’Connell, who played into the fourth quarter. O’Connell led all passers, going 18 for 30 for 205 yards with a touchdown and two interceptions.
"If there's one thing that can be said about Pete Carroll's Raiders team in the preseason opener against the Seattle Seahawks, it's that they competed," Edwards wrote on Raiders.com.
Edwards joined ARC Las Vegas and Evan Schreiber to dig deeper into both the positive and negative sights as the Raiders ready for the regular season opener.
