LAKE FOREST, Ill., — The Chicago Bears will take the field on Sunday afternoon for the first time in Ben Johnson era as the team opens up the 2025 preseason against the Miami Dolphins at home.
After spending an offseason overhauling the roster, the preseason will provide a glimpse as to how the entire team is coming along under Johnson's guidance and leadership. Throughout the first few weeks of training camp, we've seen a little bit of everything. The offense has had its ups and downs while the defense has continued to set the tone, playing at a high level.
A major positive about the current roster is that it features a number of players who will look to showcase their strengths during the preseason, demonstrating that they possess everything needed to become valuable contributors under the current coaching staff.
The obvious names are guys like Caleb Williams and Rome Odunze. But the Bears also have a ton of talent at positions such as cornerback, linebacker, running back, offensive line, and edge rusher. While Chicago does have some starting talent at each position, the rest of training camp and preseason will be an opportunity for the coaching staff and front office to sort out some questions regarding depth at each of the positions mentioned above.
When the Bears take the field on Sunday afternoon, players worth watching will include rookies Kyle Monangai and Ozzy Trapilo, veterans Noah Sewell and Nahshon Wright, and second-year edge rusher Austin Booker.
Let's get into why each of the names mentioned above are worth watching and why their performances on Sunday could have a major impact on the coaching staff's roster decisions moving forward.
