Cowboys land just-released former Pittsburgh Steelers offensive lineman

The Dallas Cowboys have been awarded former Pittsburgh Steelers offensive lineman Nick Broeker off waivers, according to the NFL transaction wire.

The Steelers signed Broeker in the spring, and he has played all over the offensive line for them, but has started focusing in at guard and center on the third team units.

A seventh-round pick by the Buffalo Bills out of Ole Miss in the 2023 NFL Draft, Broeker lasted just the summer with them before the Texans claimed him.

Over his two years with the Texans, Broeker played in 12 games. He has played tackle and guard at different points, but the Steelers listed Broeker as a guard, and played him as a center with some injuries popping up throughout training camp.

They initially cut Lecitus Smith to make room for Broeker. Ryan McCollum exited Thursday’s practice with an injury, and he could be doubtful for Saturday’s game against the Jacksonville Jaguars. That means the team could be down to just two centers for the game.
