Exactly one week away from Newcastle United kicking off their new Premier League campaign against Aston Villa, pressure grows to get transfers complete.

The Magpies' summer has been fraught with challenges trying to land certain in-demand targets, which has left Eddie Howe's plans scuppered. Particularly with regard to attackers, Newcastle have been dealt blow after blow by their rivals.

But there are still options on the market and time before the summer window closes on September 1 to get any deals successfully over the line. It is only ideal to have players through the door before the season begins.

With that said, ChronicleLive analyses the latest Newcastle transfer news and rumours, which includes updates on Nicolas Jackson and Malick Thiaw.

Nicolas Jackson feelings

The Daily Mail say Jackson has officially informed Chelsea he wants to move away in the time that remains this summer.

This bombshell dropped as the Senegal international was left out of the Blues' squad to face Bayer Leverkusen in a pre-season friendly at Stamford Bridge on Friday night.

He is said to have trained alone on on the day of the match and Chelsea are doing all they can to facilitate his next move, with Newcastle one of the clubs linked to the situation.

A deal will be sanctioned if it is in the London club's best interests.

ChronicleLive says: " The reason Chelsea signed Jackson was because they saw potential in him. Over two seasons he has scored 30 goals for the club on the English and European stages, which is a modest amount.

"Newcastle will have to recognise this too as they would be tasked with finishing his development. Howe's system is perfect for a lone striker and Jackson could thrive. "The only stumbling block might be the price tag attached to this deal."

Malick Thiaw agreement

Italian reporter Rudy Galetti believes Newcastle United have managed to reach an agreement with AC Milan defender Malick Thiaw, settling personal terms for a contract until 2029.

Up next is a club-to-club agreement with the Serie A giants demanding €40 million (£34m) to even consider doing business.

Still, even if that stage is reached it is suggested Howe and Co. would be made to wait to finalise the deal until Milan have lined up themselves a replacement.

ChronicleLive says: "Thiaw is a great talent and solves the defensive issue they've wanted to for a while now, but waiting until the end of the window when this could potentially fall through might be an issue."
