Talks stall with Leeds United transfer target as Emi Buendia update emerges

The Premier League begins next weekend and Leeds United are still at the centre of transfer rumours regarding players arriving into Daniel Farke's squad.

So far, £75 million has been spent at Elland Road kitting out a group who will strive to buck the trend and avoid relegation straight back down to the Championship - a fate suffered by the last six teams who have attempted the climb into the English top-flight.

With Leeds' season booked in to only start on the night of Monday, August 18, they are forced to wait to return to the Premier League with the advantage of having more time to conduct any necessary business.

Here, LeedsLive analyse the latest transfer rumours including updates on Fulham striker Rodrigo Muniz and Aston Villa midfielder Emi Buendia.

Rodrigo Muniz update

Contract renewal talks between Fulham and Rodrigo Muniz have significantly stalled, report Tutto Mercato.

Following links to Leeds, the Italian publication has picked up this because Serie A outfit Atalanta have reportedly opened talks with the London club with interest in the striker.

He is named as La Dea's 'top pick' now ahead of Crystal Palace's Jean-Philippe Mateta and their hope is that Fulham will lower their asking price in the knowledge Muniz will be leaving for free next summer as things stand.

Leeds Live says: A boost for Leeds to begin with but quite the opposite with competition from such a prominent Italian side. It seems they are also actively trying to sell Ademola Lookman so they will have the money available to go after Muniz soon. That means the Whites may well need to pay the full fee if they are truly intent on this transfer.

Emi Buendia latest

Speaking to Leeds United News, Graeme Bailey has provided an insight into Emiliano Buendia - a player who has persistently been linked with the switch to Elland Road.

"The no.10 position is fascinating. There’s still so many that are available. Leeds like Buendia, but I’m told by Villa sources that Buendia is playing himself back in contention there," he began.

So far Buendia has made four appearances for Villa this summer and scored in their most recent outing vs AS Roma.

Bailey added: "But if the season starts and he doesn’t play in the first two games, he comes back into the window."

Leeds Live says: This opens up the door to a late-summer transfer scramble, one that could even go down to deadline day if he does not play then Villa and the player agree his career is best taken elsewhere.
