Manchester United have been linked with a transfer for Nico Paz
Last season was nothing short of a nightmare for Manchester United and their devoted fans. Finishing 15th in the Premier League, losing to Tottenham Hotspur in the Europa League final, and not making it to any European tournaments next season – all this became a dark chapter in the club’s history.
Ruben Amorim took over as manager midway through the previous season, but by then, things had deteriorated. Now, before the new season begins, there is a storm of change at the club. Big names like Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo have arrived at Old Trafford this summer, with Diogo Leon also being added as one of the young talents. Most importantly, the club reportedly signed Benjamin Sesko as a striker, as Rasmus Hojlund failed to live up to expectations last season.
Latest news from the transfer market
Despite the new faces, Amorim might want to strengthen the midfield. The team might be seeking a playmaker who can control the game from the centre and connect the defence and attack, with Bruno Fernandes already 30 years old and attracting big offers from Saudi Arabia. Meanwhile, news from Italy has caught the attention of United fans.
Eyes on Nico Paz
Manchester United have been linked with a transfer for Nico Paz.
Manchester United, Chelsea and Tottenham are all showing a strong interest in the potential transfer of Como central midfield playmaker Nico Paz
According to CaughtOffside, Manchester United, Chelsea and Tottenham – all three clubs are showing keen interest in Como’s 20-year-old midfield playmaker Nico Paz. His performance in Serie A last season was excellent, and now he is considered one of the most talked-about young talents in Europe. Como want to remove his release clause and agree on a new contract so that they can get more money in the transfer. He is valued at around €70m, and Tottenham have already made initial contact.
If we talk about the Argentine kid’s qualities, Paz’s biggest strength is his ball control and vision. He finds passes between the lines of defense and can change the tempo of the game at will. Paz is young but his playing confidence and technical abilities on the ball can make a world of difference in the match.
Opinion: Good option, tough deal
We think Paz could be a great signing for a club like us. Amorim could make the attack more fluid by putting him in central midfield. He could bring creativity and balance to the midfield alongside Bruno Fernandes or even take it up from him as the one for the future. However, there is a question – is €70m the right bet at this point? Also, we don’t see it happening this summer atleast, with the club already invested heavily in Cunha, Mbeumo and Sesko.
Under the financial pressures United will now have to sell players to make room for big transfers. Antony and Jadon Sancho are on the list, and Alejandro Garnacho is also being rumoured as the big sale this summer. Unless there are big sales, a deal looks unlikely this summer. Perhaps if Amorim can clear up the midfield picture by next year, bringing in a player like Paz would make more sense.
