'Won't be in the squad': Manager confirms 'instrumental' player won't feature for his side today amid Everton talks

Southampton attacker Tyler Dibling is currently a key target for Everton as they look to kick on under David Moyes this season.

Everton remain locked in talks over a deal for Tyler Dibling after trying their luck with a number of bids, though Southampton’s £50million price tag is complicating proceedings.

Dibling is keen on a move to Everton this summer and is frustrated by Southampton’s stance over their asking price for him, as per TBR Football sources.

Now, Saints boss Will Still has dropped an update regarding Dibling that may well give Everton renewed optimism of signing the 19-year-old.

Tyler Dibling not included in Southampton squad for Wrexham clash

Southampton are due to kick off their Championship campaign against Wrexham in a 12:30pm kick-off on Saturday.

However, Still confirmed at his pre-match press conference that Dibling would not be involved, along with several other Saints players.

“There are a few players who are where they’re at in their career and making choices,” said Still, as per Liverpool World.

“Tyler won’t be there, Sam [Edozie] and Joe [Aribo] won’t be in the squad, either.”

The report also claimed that Dibling was withdrawn from training earlier this week to avoid injury and scupper a potential move away.

What Tyler Dibling could bring to Everton

Dibling is a young, versatile and extremely talented footballer who has already shown he has what it takes to shine in the Premier League at just 19 years of age.

Most of Dibling’s minutes last season came on the right flank, but he has also played at No. 10 and up front, while in previous seasons, he even played at No. 8 and No. 6.

Theo Walcott previously claimed Dibling reminded him of Paul Gascoigne, while Dion Dublin believes Dibling is similar to Cole Palmer.

Meanwhile, Danny Murphy told BBC Sport: “It is the quality he has got – the belief in himself and the physical power.

“He just goes past people with ease. He has got a lovely left foot. He is very brave on the ball and his decision-making is good.

“He is just enjoying himself and he is playing with a real belief in himself. He is just instrumental in this team.”
