Manchester United are looking to accelerate some player exits after agreeing a deal to sign Benjamin Sesko

Marcus Rashford has departed after agreeing a season-long loan move to Barcelona, who will cover his entire salary for the duration of his time in Spain. That will save United around £14m this season but with over £200m now spent on new arrivals, player sales are required to balance the books.

After missing out on European football, the Red Devils had a limited budget for new signings heading into the window. However, circumstances dictated they made their move for Sesko this week after Newcastle United made a club-record bid.

If United had waited until player exits were confirmed, they risked missing out on Sesko. A number of other striker targets have moved to other clubs - with Liam Delap heading to Chelsea and Hugo Ekitike joining fierce rivals Liverpool.

Alejandro Garnacho agrees personal terms with Chelsea

Talks have reportedly advanced this week, with Garnacho wanting to make the move to Stamford Bridge. Fabrizio Romano has since provided an update, saying personal terms for a potential move to West London are a done deal.

He said: “Understand Alejandro Garnacho has agreed every detail of personal terms with Chelsea. Deal done on player side, he only wants Chelsea as revealed here since July. Talks with Man United about fee will follow soon. Chelsea pursue both Garnacho and Xavi Simons, as revealed.”

Napoli were interested in Garnacho back in January, alongside Chelsea. Interested clubs were quoted £70m to sign the player but with Garnacho’s desire to leave made public, United are in a weaker position when it comes to negotiating a fee.

Ruben Amorim has already addressed potential Garnacho exit

"I think with Garnacho, you can understand and you can see that he's talented, he's a really talented boy,” said Amorim previously when addressing the player’s future at Old Trafford. "But sometimes things don't work out and you cannot explain specifically what it is.

"But I have the feeling – and I think it's clear - that Garnacho wants a different thing with a different leadership and I can understand that.

"So I don't think it's a problem. Sometimes you adapt to one guy and you have the connection. Other times you want a new challenge. So we try to make everything OK for all parties. To the club, to the coach and to the player. It's a natural thing in football."
