Jacob Ramsey looks to be staying put at Aston Villa, forcing West Ham to look at bringing in other options in midfield.
Graham Potter’s desire to undergo a full rebuild within his midfield has been well documented over the summer, with numerous names linked with a move to East London.
Among them was Ramsey, but Villa’s academy graduate has been offered a new deal in the West Midlands. Following this news, West Ham Zone brings you three alternatives the Hammers could sign instead.

Josh Brownhill on a free could be a shrewd piece of business
West Ham have already utilised the free agent market this summer, bringing in Callum Wilson to bolster their forward line.
While this transfer has raised some eyebrows within the Irons’ fanbase, bringing in former Burnley skipper Josh Brownhill on a free transfer seems like a sensible addition.

Brownhill, 29, has multiple seasons of Premier League experience on his CV and is coming off a fantastic campaign where he netted 18 goals in the Championship as Burnley won promotion back to the top flight of English football.
He may not start for Potter every week, but Brownhill would be a solid rotation option for West Ham, and there would be few obstacles in the way of preventing a potential deal.
Douglas Luiz would be a quality addition for West Ham
The Brazilian midfielder has been consistently linked with a return to the Premier League following his underwhelming campaign with Italian giants Juventus.
Luiz became one of the best midfielders in the Premier League during his spell at Aston Villa, and if Potter could revive his old form, then those inside the London Stadium would be in for a treat seeing him play regularly.
Luiz managed to record nine goals and five assists in his final campaign before moving to Italy last summer
With multiple other Premier League clubs chasing Luiz’s signature, it would be a statement signing if West Ham managed to pull this deal off.

Harvey Elliott to realise his full potential in E20
Although he may be a different profile of midfielder compared to Ramsey, Elliott would still be a quality addition to Potter’s engine room.
The youngster was frozen out of the Liverpool team under Arne Slot last season as they won the Premier League, with the 22-year-old being limited to just two league starts.
Elliott’s talents are there for all to see, and if he is given consistent playing time under Potter, West Ham could develop the Englishman into one of the best creative midfielders in England.
The Hammers will need to get a move on, however, if they want to secure his services, with RB Leipzig interested in the former Fulham man.
