John Stones has been a key player for Manchester City since he first arrived in 2016 and has helped them win multiple Premier League titles and one Champions League.
The Englishman’s current contract at the Etihad Stadium runs out in the summer of 2026 and in an interview with Corriere dello Sport, he was asked about his future.
The defender revealed that Manchester City is his home and has no plans to leave.
The defender claimed: “The rumours I hear are ridiculous. This is my home. I’d like to stay.”
He described himself as an emotional person, saying he may never leave Manchester City at all.
“Maybe never, and I’m a little emotional.”
The 31-year-old made it clear that he is proud of everything he has achieved under Pep Guardiola, after initial struggles.
“I had hoped for it, maybe dreamed of it. The team was already strong. There were Agüero, De Bruyne, Silva, Yaya Touré. But the number of trophies we won was unpredictable, and I never, ever imagined I’d be part of the best team in the world for so many years. I’m extremely proud of that.”
It is clear that Stones has a pretty deep connection with Manchester City and his comments show that he is keen on signing a new deal beyond the summer of 2026.
Everything can depend on Guardiola’s wishes though, as injury issues have cropped up quite a bit of times last season, as he missed over 25 games in the entire campaign.
This will have a major role to play in Manchester City’s decision and next season can prove vital.
