Liverpool can close the gap on Arsenal in the all-time list of teams with the most Community Shield wins by overcoming Crystal Palace at Wembley.

Now, Slot has the chance to lift more silverware at the first possible opportunity in the Community Shield against Crystal Palace.
The official curtain-raiser for the new Premier League season will also give Reds fans the chance to see big-money arrival Florian Wirtz and new signing Hugo Ekitike for the first time in a competitive fixture.
Liverpool can also match the achievements of just two other teams in history as they look to claim a 17th Community Shield win.

Liverpool can move second on the all-time list of most Community Shield wins
Liverpool have a long and proud history in the season’s curtain-raiser, built on their golden era of dominance which began in the 1960s.
In total, Liverpool have claimed 16 Community Shield titles, winning 11 outright and sharing 5. Until 1993, the title was shared in the event of a drawn match, barring one notable exception when Liverpool beat Leeds on penalties in 1974.

Outright: 1966, 1974, 1976, 1979, 1980, 1982, 1988, 1989, 2001, 2006, 2022.
Shared: 1964, 1965, 1977, 1986.
The Reds claimed their most recent win in the fixture in 2022, when Mo Salah helped them overcome Manchester City. As a result, if Liverpool can claim a victory over Oliver Glasner’s Crystal Palace side, they will move onto 17 wins in total.
This would put them joint-second on the list of most Community Shield wins, level with Arsenal, who have 16 outright titles and one shared title.

Who has won the most Community Shield titles?
However, both Arsenal and Liverpool have some ground to make up on Manchester United, who top the all-time list for most Community Shield victories.
Liverpool’s arch-rivals have claimed 21 titles, with 17 outright wins and four shared titles, between their first win in 1908 and their most recent in 2016.

Everton are a distant fourth in the rankings, with eight outright titles and one shared, ahead of Tottenham and Manchester City, who both have seven titles, although only four of Spurs’ titles were won outright.
In total, only 13 teams in history have claimed more than one Community Shield, as Palace look to join the list of one-off winners.
