Sheffield Wednesday have wasted little time trying to recruit players following their EFL embargoes being lifted.

The EFL put Sheffield Wednesday under multiple embargoes this summer, which has stopped them from adding to their slim squad.

However, it emerged going into the weekend thatthe Owls’ embargoes will be lifted now they are able to pay off debts via money received from the Premier League.

A fee restriction on transfers is set to remain in place, but official confirmation of the embargoes being lifted was forthcoming on Friday.

Amid Sheffield Wednesday getting more freedom in the market, they are now targeting two Manchester United players.

Sheffield Wednesday want second Manchester United player after Harry Amass

It was reported on August 8 that Sheffield Wednesday want to sign Harry Amass on loan from the Red Devils for the 2025/26 season.

Amass is a promising academy prospect who already has first-team experience, featuring on five occasions in the Premier League last term.

However, the left-back could be joined at Hillsborough this summer by one of his teammates.

Joe Crann has now reported via X/Twitter that Toby Collyer is a target for the Yorkshire club as well.

Collyer joined Manchester United’s youth ranks from Brighton and Hove Albion in 2022.

The defensive midfielder has played 30 games at U21 level for the Red Devils, providing one assist.

He has some experience in their senior team, notching 13 outings for the Manchester outfit. All of those matches came in 2024/25.

Collyer is also an England U20 international, playing three times for the Young Lions.
