Erik ten Hag downplays feud with Cristiano Ronaldo after latest hat-trick,'he was never...'

Cristiano Ronaldo’s fallout with Erik ten Hag was well documented in 2022.

Three years ago, Cristiano Ronaldo fell out with Erik ten Hag before his second spell at Manchester United ended in 2022.

Ronaldo, who currently plays for Al-Nassr in Saudi Arabia, slated the club and his former manager in an explosive interview with Piers Morgan. He left Old Trafford shortly after.

One of the biggest quotes from that interview was Ronaldo’s accusation against Ten Hag: “I don’t have respect for him because he doesn’t have respect for me.”

It was always unlikely that Ronaldo would play for United again following that interview, but the media doesn’t forget these episodes, and Ten Hag has been reminded of his clash with the former United star on multiple occasions.

Cristiano Ronaldo was never ‘the problem’ at Man Utd

Although time moves on, Ten Hag will never forget about his feud with Ronaldo because it’s something he will always be asked about throughout his career.

Ronaldo is one of the greatest players to play the game, not only for United, but Real Madrid and Juventus.

Ten Hag may want to move on, though. The Bayer Leverkusen manager was speaking to Hayters when he was asked about Ronaldo’s recent hat-trick for Al-Nassr.

The former United manager insists he never had an issue with Ronaldo and that he was never the problem.

“For me, it’s no problem,” Ten Hag said. “He was never the problem and I think that is that’s the past. It was what happened. It’s the past.

“After that, we won two trophies at Manchester United. I wish him all the best for the future and I wish him the best of luck.”

Ronaldo marks anniversary of ‘Siu’ celebration with hat-trick

On the 12th anniversary of the world-famous ‘Siu’ celebration, Ronaldo scored a hat-trick in a 4-0 win over Rio Ave.

The 40-year-old, who scored 25 goals in the Saudi Pro League last term, proved to be in form on pre-season as he was joined on the pitch by Joao Felix.

Ronaldo recently signed a two-year deal at Al-Nassr, meaning he plans to play until he is 42.
